Please join us for a lecture "Lodz, testosteron and human dignity" by Dr. Abraham Morgentaler, son of writer Chava Rosenfarb on Tuesday, October 17 at 6:00 pm to the headquarters of the Lodz Scientific Society at 11 Sklodowska-Curie Street today. It will be delivered as part of the International Academic Conference "CHAVA ROSENFARB AND JEWISH WRITERS OF THE 20th CENTURY" Lodz, Testosterone and Human Dignity".
In this lecture Dr. Morgentaler describes his personal journey with testosterone research over more than 40 years, first in lizards and then in humans. This research revolutionized medical concepts regarding testosterone, in particular reversing the belief that testosterone is dangerous for prostate cancer. The lecture highlights how fundamental scientific concepts can be based on misinterpreted data, yet may persist despite obvious evidence to the contrary. Dr. Morgentaler will share his provocative work in high-risk patients, emphasizing the importance of human dignity. This concept was inspired in Dr. Morgentaler by the experiences of his parents, physician Henry Morgentaler and author Chava Rosenfarb, both of whom grew up in Lodz, Poland, and who survived the Lodz Ghetto and Nazi concentration camps, before eventually marrying and moving to Montreal Canada, where Dr. Morgentaler was born.
