Come and join us at this year's first Kulturalia! We are opening with the Polish Culture Days - we are going to take a closer look at the one culture to which we rarely pay much attention. For four days, we will have plenty of opportunity to learn something interesting and to enjoy ourselves.

On 18 – 21 February 2012, Polish Culture Days will be held for the first time in Łódź.
Admission to all events is free of charge.

18 February 2012  - Saturday

1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
LOCATION: Arterion, 82 Rewolucji 1905 r.
Film marathon: „Vabank” and „Vabank II, czyli riposta”

Juliusz Machulski’s directorial debut. The action takes place in Warsaw in the thirties. Kwinto, a bank robber, has just been released from prison; he devises revenge on a certain Mr. Kramer.

Both in Vabank and Vabank II, one of the cities that played pre-war Warsaw was Łódź.
We would like to take you on a journey through time, during which we visit Narutowicza Street, Matejko Park, prison at Smutna Street, and many other places.

A guided walk “Polish paths in Łódź”. Stary Rynek – Nowy Rynek (Old Market Square – New Market Square)
start: Rynek Starego Miasta (Old Town Square)
We start at the premises of Stowarzyszenie Miłośników Starego Miasta (Association of Friends of Old Town) at the Nowy Rynek/Old Market Square. Then, we will walk go to the Kościelny Square. Following the old Piotrkowski route, we will reach the valley of the Łódka river, through the Staromiejski/ Old Town Park and Nowomiejska street, to finally reach Plac Wolności (Liberty Square), formerly the New Market Square. The walk will conclude with a visit to the museums located at Plac Wolności: Dętka Canal Museum, the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography and the Department of Culture and Religious Traditions " Catholic Lodz".
The walk will be guided by Joanna Podolska, a tour guide in Lodz, which is also a director of the Marek Edelman.
We encourage everyone to take their cameras with them. Photos taken during the walk will be later presented at the Dialogue Center Gallery.

Cooking workshop - Polish cuisine
Location: Art Deco restaurant, 81 Legionów St. (Reymont hotel)
At the Art Deco restaurant cooking workshop will be held, during which we will learn the secrets of preparing traditional Polish dishes.

Polish language and the ‘Łódź-speak’ – DEBATE ON THE ŁÓDŹ DIALECT.

Is the language spoken by the people of Łódź different when compared to other local varieties of Polish?
We would like to invite everyone to a debate concerning the Polish language of Łódź. The speakers will be: Master of the Polish Language, senator Ryszard Bonisławski, author of the Polish – Łódź dictionary, Michał Jagiełło and Marek Cybulski - a linguistics professor and a historian of the Polish language.
